Singer-songwriter Sarah Eide's new album "Dreams on Hold" poetically reflects the trials and tribulations of being a woman in modern society. Influenced by her classical roots and the wonder of nature, Eide blends elements of pop, blues, roots, soul, and gospel to create an enthralling Americana storybook.

Her gripping music sends you on a journey through the past, present, and future in the title track and "Big Mover." Evoking the intimate storytelling of Joni Mitchell, Eide's voice weaves whimsically around the intricacies of her fingerpicking guitar style and flowery piano melodies. Backed by trumpeter Shane Jonas and drummer John Deitmeyer, Eide explores her darker side on "Journey Song" and "Little O," while spreading an upbeat message of unity and self-love on "The Bridge Song" and "Today." Sarah Eide is an angel on the outside and a rock star on the inside, reminding listeners to count their blessings.

Eide will perform"Dreams On Hold" in its entirety at the CD release show, along with sets from special guests The Lonely Ones and Dead Metaphor Cabaret, on Friday, May 24, 8 p.m. at Lovin' Cup, 300 Park Point Drive. $10. 292-9940.  lovincup.com.
