For casual listeners, the works of Tchaikovsky are well known. Include Sergei Rachmaninoff, Mikhail Glinka, and Nikolai Medtner and you have a wider representation of Russian classical music. In the Cherry Orchard features selections from all four composers performed by pianist Ksenia Leletkina and cellist Svetlana Garitselov (pictured). Both are alumni of the Eastman School of Music. Proceeds from this concert will benefit The Protection of the Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church.
In the Cherry Orchard: An Evening of Russian Music will take place Sunday, February 28, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 25 Westminster Road. $10-$20. pomog.org/evening-of-russian-music.
