Summer is here and the regular orchestral concert season is over. But you can still catch the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and its music director, Ward Stare, at a free concert at Ontario Beach next Wednesday. The populist program features plenty of Independence Day odes and a heavy dose of John Williams with film music from "E.T." and the Harry Potter franchise. Other featured composers include Bizet, Dvoák, and Tchaikovsky, with works from the upcoming 2017-18 season. This concert is chock full of crowd-pleasers, striking a balance between the patriotic and the whimsical.
The RPO will perform Wednesday, July 5, at Ontario Beach Park, 50 Beach Avenue. 7:30 p.m. Free. 454-2100; rpo.org.
