ROCK 'N' ROLL | Southside Johnny

Garden State legend Southside Johnny's new album, "Men Without Women," was recorded at another New Jersey legend, juke joint of renown The Stone Pony. Since the mid-70's this grossly underrated band has been one of the top purveyors of blue-eyed soul. Remember how Springsteen sounded before he got more into introspection? Well multiply that by 10, put some horns on it, and sprinkle it liberally with sweat. Serves all.

Southside Johnny performs Thursday, June 13, 5-10 p.m. as part of the 2013 Windstream Party in the Park Concert Series at the Riverside Festival Site, Court and Exchange. $2-$5. cityofrochester.gov/pip.
